Student Insurance

Accidents are not supposed to happen, but they can. The Bear Valley Unified School District does not carry medical or dental insurance for students on school premises, while under school jurisdiction, or while participating in school district activities. For these reasons, the school district has arranged a student accident insurance program, for your review and consideration, with an outside provider called STUDENT INSURANCE. This insurance is optional and complies with the California Education Code #32221.

SCHOOL ATHLETIC PROGRAMS: Under state law, school districts are required to ensure that all members of school athletic teams have accidental injury insurance that covers medical and hospital expenses. This insurance requirement can be met through a private plan carried by the family, the district's offer of an outside provider, or the eligibility of the student to enroll in a no-cost or low-cost local, state, or federally sponsored health insurance program.
